The Gospel in Real Life

Welcome to my site. The Gospel in Real Life is a real-time reflection of what’s going on in my own life as I seek to live out the gospel in the real world. Applying the gospel in the myriad of situations that the Lord brings into our lives is a struggle that we all have in common because our tendency is to walk by sight and not by faith. One reason that we struggle with living out the gospel in real life is because even though a believer’s sins are forgiven, we continue to struggle with remaining sin until the day we are with Jesus, and that causes us to take our eyes off of the cross and to put them on any number of distractions, including ourselves and our own performance. That is the challenge of living the gospel in real life and in the real world. It get messy sometimes but when it does, we need to remind ourselves to look at the cross and not at our own performance.

As I blog here, I hope that you will be encouraged and challenged by what you read, and I look forward to interacting with you via your comments. Scripture, the Bible, is our final authority and in it, God has graciously given us everything we need to live a life that reflects him. That is the power of the gospel to transform a life (2 Peter 1:3). With that in mind, I always want to drive us back to Scripture for encouragement to endure. Paul told the Romans,

For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. (Romans 15:4)
